Helen Johnson

Helen Johnson is back for a fourth year of curating and hosting the poetry at Elderflower Fields.  She is a poet and academic, which means that she not only lives in an ivory tower, but can describe it using interesting metaphors, evocative lyrical juxtaposition and the occasional bit of iambic pentameter.  Her poetry has been described as “sparkling,” “charming,” “witty” and, strangely, “like ani difranco on steroids.”  Helen has performed poetry at festivals, theatres, pubs and pavements around England, North America and Japan, and has released one chapbook – ‘Verbatim,’ and two CDs – ‘A Metal Plate in a Microwave’ and ‘Ghoti and Other Fauna.’  Helen has curated Glastonbury Festival’s Poetry&Words stage since 2008, and previously curated the poetry at Larmer Tree Festival.
